As the weather gets cooler we find ourselves going into trunks,and deep into closets digging out our winter clothing. Boots, sweaters, coats and then there it is the Flannel Shirt. Flannel has always kept us warm and some people even mocked those wearing the iconic flannel shirt and then it becomes a fashion statement , yeah it’s cool to wear flannel. The flannel shirt was always the choice of the working person for a couple of reasons, one it simply kept us warm, two very affordable and easy to find.
I remember as a young boy growing up in the lower west side winter meant building snow forts going sliding and then after hours of playing in the snow it was back home for the comfort anf warmth of your flannel jammies. I don’t think any thing made me feel more safe and warm than sitting at the table in my flannel jammies and filling up on mom’s hamburger stew, it’s always the little things isn’t it?
Shirts, bed sheets, night gowns and pj’s and jeans it’s always better when it’s flannel. Silk is nice cotton is cool and polyester well it’s polyester only flannel gives you the warmth and comfort that feels like home
