There is still time to bid of items featured in the P.R.O. Kids fundraising auction.
Like so many charities, P.R.O. Kids had to pivot when its biggest fundraiser, an annual dinner held in the spring, was cancelled by COVID-19.
P.R.O. Kids advisory committee chair Jen Brown said they tried to be creative in replacing their main fundraising event and stay safe.
“‘We know now that with COVID, we have more families in need of our program, so we have to
continue to raise funds for that,” Brown said.

Brown added P.R.O. Kids helps children who want to fence, join an art program, take dance lessons or play a sport.
“We will cover the cost of their registration to make sure they have that opportunity and to help push them out of the cycle of poverty they may be facing,” Brown said.
Auction items range from clothing and dental services, a birthday princess package, 48 rolls toilet paper and a Jonathan Huberdeau fan package.
“We’ve been continuously updating that. If anything has come in, we’ve added it right away. Pretty much all of the items are bid on. We have already reached our goal that we set for that as well so that’s really good,” Brown said.
Bids on silent auction items will be accepted until 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Due to the recent ransomware attack against the city, successful bidders can pay for their items via cheque or cash.
