For now, New Brunswick will not be making any changes to its participation in the Atlantic travel bubble.
Premier Blaine Higgs spoke of the changes announced by PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador and how they impact people in this province.
“New Brunswickers travelling to PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador including those going there to work, should contact the governments in those provinces to determine how today’s changes affect them, what conditions are required and whether any registration or pre-approval is required,” Higgs said.
Premier Higgs said the changes announced in PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador do not impact New Brunswickers returning home who were working in those provinces.
The premier said he joins his fellow Atlantic premiers in discouraging non-essential travel for the next two weeks.
“Now is not the time to travel to other areas or to do your holiday shopping,” Higgs said.
Higgs encouraged local shopping and supporting businesses in each of our provinces.
Premier Blaine Higgs also spoke of the recent changes to the Orange level noting masks must be worn indoors and outdoors in public.
“The next big thing is, you can’t have people into your home. You should not be spending time with anyone you don’t live with,” Higgs said.
He said restaurants and bars have to make sure they don’t seat people together who don’t live in the same household.
