Anyone in the Greater Saint John area needing a COVID-19 test will have a new option to get one this week.
Horizon Health Network has increased capacity since the return to orange level in Zone 2 and will open a second COVID-19 assessment centre this week.
The additional centre is being set up at St. James the Less Church at 1760 Rothesay Road in Rothesay and will start taking appointments later this week.
The COVID-19 Assessment Centre on Ropewalk Road in the north end is operating with additional staff and longer hours to allow for more testing.
Staff at the Assessment Centres are prioritizing who are close contacts, health care workers and people who require a test for a medical procedure.
They request patience from the public as they work diligently to ensure everyone requiring a test is seen.
Due to recent changes, 500 people can be tested a day in the Saint John area compared to 200 earlier this month.
People requiring appointments for COVID-19 testing can complete an online self-referral or calling Tele-Care 811.
