Meteorological winter has begun, so what is in store for New Brunswick over the next three months?
In its winter forecast covering December, January and February, the Weather Network is calling for above-normal temperatures and precipitation.
Meteorologist Michael Carter says if you’re not a big fan of snow and cold, this could be your kind of winter.
“We are expecting milder than normal temperatures to dominant much of the eastern half of North America this year and certainly that includes all the way up the Atlantic coast into Atlantic Canada.”
He believes bouts of Arctic air and bitter cold will be mostly absent.
Precipitation should be plentiful but Carter says a higher percentage of storms will likely bring rain and ice rather than just snow to the region.
He thinks we’ll have fewer Nor’easters but snowfall should be close to average overall.
But Carter expects the snow will come and go and won’t have a chance to build up as it sometimes can during the winter.
