The YMCA of Greater Saint John and Saint John Newcomers Centre are partnering together for a shared fundraising event this holiday season.
The organizations will sell 1,200 live Christmas trees, donated by IKEA, the New Brunswick Multicultural Council, and the Furniture Bank, which will be sold at the Irving Oil Field House.
All proceeds raised will be shared between the YMCA’s Strong Communities Campaign and the Saint John Newcomer Centre’s Scholarship Fund and Newcomer Assistance Fund.
The fundraiser paves the way for the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign to reach its annual goal of $425,000. The campaign raises money for essential resources that ensure YMCA’s programs can provide sponsorship and opportunities for Saint John’s newcomers.
The Saint John Newcomers Centre works to improve the city’s cultural, social, and economic landscape through the promotion of multiculturalism.
Trees can be purchased by a donation of $25 or more, beginning Saturday December 5. For further information, check out the YMCA’s Facebook page.
