New Brunswick’s chief medical officer of health recommends that the Moncton region (Zone 1) and the Fredericton region (Zone 3) transition from the Orange level to the Yellow level of pandemic recovery at 12:01 a.m. Monday (December 7).
Dr. Jennifer Russell says both of those zones have seen a marked improvement.
“The danger of further COVID-19 infections has not gone away, we have not reduced the risk to zero,” said Dr. Russell.
“Yellow means ‘caution.’ It is not an invitation to go full speed ahead into life as it was before the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Dr. Russell says the Saint John region (Zone 2) will be remaining at the Orange level for the time being.
Meantime, the Parkland Saint John seniors complex now has 17 confirmed cases of COVID-19 – six employees and 11 residents.
Public Health is reporting 4 new cases today:
The Saint John region (Zone 2) has two cases:
- an individual in their 60s
- an individual over age 90
The Moncton region (Zone 1) has one case:
- an individual under age 19
The Edmundston region (Zone 4) has one case:
- an individual in their 60s
All of these cases are said to be self-isolating and are under investigation.
The province now has 82 active cases with more recoveries since Saturday.
One person is in hospital in the intensive care unit.
