New details surrounding the missing scallop dragger in the Digby area.
Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, (JRCC) has identified the vessel as the “Chief William Saulis”. They say six people were on board.
A third Canadian Coast Guard vessel, Sir William Alexander, has been tasked with searching the area and local fishers have also joined the search.
Ground Search and Rescue will also be searching from the shore.
A spokesperson earlier confirmed JRCC received a ping from an EPIRB in the vicinity of Digby Neck around 5:50 Tuesday morning.
The JRCC dispatched CH-149 Cormorant and CH-130 Hercules helicopters from CFB Greenwood, while the Canadian Coast Guard has the M. Perley and Courtney Bay vessels began searching near the Delaps Cove area.
Debris was spotted around 8:15 a.m., including two life rafts washed ashore.
The search is ongoing, though poor weather is hampering efforts.
