Public Health reported no new COVID-19 cases in New Brunswick Sunday.
The province also announced it had removed four previously reported cases from its total count.
Two of those cases, previously discovered in the Saint John region, have been attributed to a different province’s numbers. Public Health will not say which province has taken account, due to confidentiality requirements.
Two more cases, one in the Moncton zone and the other in the Bathurst region, have now been deemed false positives.
In a statement, Public Health says it is now working to find the cause of the false positives.
“When Public Health evaluates the results of its tests, they consider the epidemiological links and case information to determine the likelihood for these to be positive,” the release reads. “In certain rare situations, such as this one, the results were not in keeping with the patient information or the COVID-19 activity in the area, so the samples were retested. The people involved are being informed of their negative result.”
With the changes to previously reported data, Public Health now says there have been 574 total cases in New Brunswick since the pandemic began.
45 cases remain active, down from 52 Saturday, 520 have recovered, and eight COVID-related deaths have occurred. One death of a patient that was positive for the virus but died for unrelated reasons has also been reported.
Three patients remain in New Brunswick hospitals due to the virus, and one is in the intensive care unit.
