A poll of New Brunswick voters suggests the Blaine Higgs government would face stronger opposition if an election were held today.
Atlantic Matters found that support for the PC’s fell nine points from 43 per cent prior in last September’s election, down to 34 per cent in December.
The poll surveyed 404 New Brunswickers between December 5 and 14.
Both the Liberal Party and Green Party of New Brunswick saw bumps in support. The Liberals saw a four per cent rise up to 31 per cent since replacing former leader Kevin Vickers with Roger Melanson. Meanwhile, the Greens jumped up from 17 to 22 per cent support.
The People’s Alliance of New Brunswick and NDP support remained virtually unchanged, they received seven and five per cent respectively.
Atlantic Matters also found that across the region’s three largest cities, the PCs struggled most in Moncton, while rural areas of the province continue to lean Liberal.
The survey reported a 4.9 per cent margin of error 19 times out of 20.
