It’s a deal that many have been waiting for.
Capitol Hill negotiators sealed the deal on an almost $1 trillion US COVID-19 economic relief package.
“There will be another major rescue package for the American people,” says Republican Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell. “It’s packed with targeted policies to help struggling Americans who have already waited too long.”
What The Deal Includes
- $300 US per week supplemental jobless benefits to 10 weeks
- $600 direct stimulus payments to citizens, subject to the same income limits ($75,000)
- $300 billion In aid to businesses
- Subsidies for hard-hit businesses and money for schools, health care providers and renters facing eviction
- $1.4 trillion US government-wide funding plan
Reports indicate the government-wide appropriations bill would fund agencies through September 2021.
The House will vote on it and Senate action would follow.
