Ferry service between Millidgeville and Summerville will be suspended for the season by the end of the month.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure says the final day will be Dec. 31, or sooner depending on ice conditions.
But DTI said ice conditions upriver may cause the Peninsula Princess to be suspended before ice forms at Summerville.
“Please note that dictating ice conditions this season will be those upriver at Evandale rather than Summerville, due to the fact that the ferry must travel to Evandale to have new ramps installed,” said the department in an email Monday.
The email went on to say that these actions are necessary to maintain and preserve the province’s ferry fleet.
