More than 150 tickets were handed out during a pair of overnight snow parking bans in Saint John this weekend, according to the city.
Spokesperson Lisa Caissie said 101 tickets were issued during Saturday night’s ban in the north, east and west areas of the city.
An additional 53 tickets were handed out Sunday night during a similar ban in the south/central peninsula and 21 vehicles were towed, she said.
“We encourage people to stay informed of overnight winter parking bans by checking the City’s website, following our social media accounts, and calling the automated parking ban information line [at 658-4040] during and after any snowfall event,” Caissie said in an email.
The bans were issued following a winter storm Saturday which brought about 15 centimetres of snow to the Saint John area.
The city says any vehicles that remain on the street after a ban is declared will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense.
While several parking lots are made available for on-street parking residents when bans are declared in the south/central peninsula, residents in the rest of the city have to make their own arrangements for off-street parking during a ban.
Parking bans in the south/central peninsula run from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. while bans in the north, east and west areas run from midnight to 7 a.m.
