Shannex confirmed 13 new cases of COVID-19 in its Parkland Saint John community on Tuesday evening.
Officials say the cases involve 10 residents and three employees at the Tucker Hall nursing home.
“We expect we will continue to receive results until tomorrow evening,” Shannex said in a statement Tuesday evening.
The new cases are in addition to two other cases confirmed in the nursing home earlier in the day Tuesday.
In announcing those two cases, Shannex said retesting of all residents and employees of Tucker Hall would take place Tuesday.
As a precaution, all Tucker Hall residents are isolating in their suites and visitation is not allowed at this time.
“This is disappointing news for everyone at Tucker Hall, but especially for residents and families who have already suffered as a result of the first phase of this outbreak,” Derek Green, vice-president of New Brunswick operations for Shannex, said in a news release Tuesday morning.
“This virus has been incredibly difficult to fight, but we are working closely with our partners at Public Health and we are doing everything we can to protect our community and get beyond this so families can safely be together again.”
There have been 35 confirmed cases at Parkland Saint John since Nov. 20, including 15 cases in this latest outbreak.
