The provincial health minister thinks New Brunswick can “quickly get back on track” by obeying the rules.
Dorothy Shephard says parts of the province have moved in and out of the orange level since March by working together.
She urged New Brunswickers to follow the rules that are in place.
“New Brunswick is an example to others regions across our country and around the world of what can be accomplished by working together. I’m very proud of how far we’ve come. Now more than ever we have to step up to protect our neighbours, friends and family. The whole world is watching us,” Shephard said.
Shephard warned we may see a third straight day of record-breaking case numbers on Thursday.
“Case numbers may continue to rise in the days ahead as they reflect activities that occurred during the holiday period. It is frightening to see the numbers increase like this,” Shephard said.

Shephard said increasing case numbers in the province and around us mean urgent action was required and that’s why the entire province moved to the Orange level.
She knows people are tired of restrictions but she’s confident we can get “back on track” if we follow the rules.
The health minister acknowledged there is concern about the new cases at Shannex Tucker Hall in Saint John.
Dorothy Shephard said she is thinking about the staff, residents and families during this difficult and stressful time.
“I am confident that the team at Shannex is doing everything in their power to protect their residents and I want to thank them for working so hard to contain the situation,” Shephard said.
