January is Crime Stoppers Month, and police forces are using it to encourage you to report methamphetamine labs.
The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police say they’ll be spreading awareness of how prevalent meth is in our communities.
They’ll also be educating people on the negative impacts of methamphetaime in many communities.
The association adds police have seen an increase in production and trafficking of the drug in recent years.
“The general public can be a powerful ally when it comes to combating organized crime. They can be our eyes and ears all across the country. Reporting suspicious activities is one way we can work together to fight the drug crisis.” says Chief Bryan Larkin, the association’s President.
RCMP Deputy Commissioner Mike Duheme adds a big part of police forces’ success depends on community members keeping their eyes open.
“Awareness and the reporting of suspicious behaviour is of critical importance if we hope to counter the public safety risks posed by organized crime,” Duheme explains.
