Four people are dead after Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol building when lawmakers inside attempted to certify electoral college votes from the 2020 US Presidential election.
Media reports indicate investigations will take place to find those responsible for rioting which breached the US Capital complex on Wednesday.
The Capital was later cleared and the session resumed later Wednesday evening.
At 3:45am Eastern Time, Thursday, Vice President Mike Pence, after a night of debate hearing objections to the election confirmed the votes of the electoral college certifying Joe Biden’s win.
It was not a completely smooth morning though, as a Republican and Democrat almost got into a fist fight around 2am.
All is quiet on the grounds of the US Capitol this morning, as police continue to monitor the area.
President Trump has stated he will support a peaceful transition of power. However, there is talk of possibly using the 25th Amendment, which would remove a sitting President, if that person is deemed unfit for the job, and the Vice President takes over, briefly. VP Mike Pence would have to approve.
