Friday night will be the opportunity to view Alex Trebek as Jeopardy! host one last time.
It will no doubt be emotional as we get a look at the last episode, which was recorded on Oct. 29.
Mike Richards, the executive producer of Jeopardy!, describes a speech given by Trebek during the episode.
“He gives a speech talking about togetherness, how important family is,” said Richards. “It was so beautiful that we were all emotional, we were all in tears, and we all started clapping and it almost distracted him because he was going ‘OK, now let’s play Jeopardy!'”
Richards said before the taping of each show began, Trebek went through each question, one by one.
“He went through all of them, 61 per show, rewrote them, gave his flavour, sometimes called into question some of the information because he had the knowledge in a different way. He really was the show.”
Trebek, a former newsman, had been battling Stage 4 pancreatic cancer since March 2019. He passed away on Nov. 8 at the age of 80.
36 years. Over 8,200 episodes. Countless memories.
