Did you find money was tight at Christmas time?
There are ways to begin budgeting now for the holiday season of 2021.
Desjardins Financial Planner Angela Iermieri says it’s best to plan in advance.
“One of the easiest ways to plan for next year is to set up automatic withdrawals from your chequing account to your savings account and designate it for your holiday spending,” Iermieri says.
She says another thing that is often overlooked is establishing savings for emergencies.
“It’s a good idea to have different accounts for different projects. Not everyone has an emergency fund. So put some money aside for these uncertain times that could occur when it is a job loss or an illness,” she says.
“One could be for your emergency fund and one could be for your Christmas fund. So you put in small amounts of a regular basis whether it’s every paycheque or every month,” Iermieri says.
