Outrage from the Prime Minister about comments on his new transport minister’s religious and political background.
Justin Trudeau is condemning the leader of the Bloc Quebecois, after his comments about new minister Omar Alghabra.
In a release this week, Bloc Leader Yves-François Blanchet said “questions arise” from the minister’s former role as the leader of the Canadian Arab Federation.
Trudeau accuses Blanchet of playing “dangerous games” around “intolerance and hate,” particularly after the attempted coup in the United States, underlining “what happens when leaders don’t take care” of what they say.
Meanwhile, Trudeau also addressed Ontario’s stay-at-home order as the province continues to announce nearly 3,000 COVID-19 cases each day.
He called the 28-day order a “tough but necessary” measure to stop the spread of the virus. Despite that praise, he is still shying away from implementing something similar across the country.
Trudeau has repeatedly declined to declare a federal state of emergency.
He adds that despite delays with the Pfizer vaccine, Canada is still preparing to ramp up its COVID-19 vaccination in the second quarter of the year.
