Public Health reported 27 new cases of COVID-19 in New Brunswick Saturday.
The breakdown of the new cases is as follows:
- Seven new cases in Zone 1 (Moncton region)
- Four new cases in Zone 2 (Saint John region)
- Four new cases in Zone 3 (Fredericton region)
- Seven new cases in Zone 4 (Edmundston region)
- Three new cases in Zone 5 (Campbellton region)
- Two new cases in Zone 6 (Bathurst region)
There are now 267 active cases, up 11 since Friday. 16 additional cases have recovered.
There are three patients with COVID-19 in the hospital in New Brunswick, none of whom are in the ICU.
Saturday is the 10th consecutive day that New Brunswick posted a new high for total active cases.
The 27 new cases reported Saturday was the highest daily total since 30 cases were reported on January 9.
The province also announced a possible COVID-19 exposure on Air Canada Flight 8910 on December 31. In a release, Public Health said the patient may have been infectious on the flight, which departed at 11:23 a.m.
New Case At Shannex
Shannex reported one new case at its Parkland Saint John campus on Friday evening.
The company said a resident at the Tucker Hall nursing home tested positive for COVID-19.
It was the only positive test among the latest round of resident and employee testing.
There are currently 15 active resident cases and nine employee cases, with two employees having recovered.
Shannex said regular retesting of all residents and employees of Tucker Hall will continue next week.
Three residents at the nursing home passed away this past week from “underlying complications, including COVID-19.”
