Public Health reported 26 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, marking five consecutive days of more than 20 new cases being reported.
The breakdown by region of the new cases is as follows:
- Seven new cases in Zone 1 (Moncton health region)
- Nine in Zone 2 (Saint John health region)
- Seven in Zone 3 (Fredericton health region)
- Two in Zone 4 (Edmundston health region)
- One in Zone 6 (Bathurst health region)
There are now 304 active cases in the province — the highest number since the pandemic began — with 14 more recoveries reported since Sunday.
One patient is currently in the hospital and 973 cases have been reported since the pandemic began.
Public Health has now administered more than 10,000 vaccinations, and 2,567 New Brunswickers have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Edmundston region entered the red phase of pandemic recovery at midnight Sunday night after reporting 24 cases Sunday, the highest single-zone total since the pandemic began.
One new case of COVID-19 was reported at École Élémentaire Sacré-Coeur in Grand Falls. Under new red phase regulations, that school is required to close for three days to enable staff to be tested and contact tracing to be conducted.
The province also warned of several possible public COVID-19 exposures in Moncton.
Anyone who was at the Moncton North After Hours Medical Clinic on Mountain Road on January 14 between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. is asked to self-monitor for symptoms.
