Mounties are looking for your help as they investigate a rash of break-ins and thefts in the Kingston Peninsula.
Police say they have received 12 reports of break and enters into residences, cottages and outbuildings since Sept. 1.
The break-ins have taken place in Carters Point, Erbs Cove, Bayswater, Kingston, Kiersteadville and Summerville.
Police said thieves have struck at all hours of the day and night. In most cases, the properties were unoccupied and those responsible used force to get inside.
Items taken include firearms, generators, money, copper, jewellery, prescription medication and electronics.
RCMP Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh said ensuring your home is properly secured before leaving is the easiest way to deter thieves.
“Always check that doors are locked, the valuables inside are removed from plain sight and make sure to report any suspicious activity to police, regardless how remote the area may be,” Rogers-Marsh said in a news release Monday.
Anyone whose property has been broken into or who has information is asked to call the RCMP at 506-757-1020 or 506-832-5566. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
