New Brunswick’s Public Health is still hoping to have all long term care homes vaccinated for COVID-19 by the end of March, that’s according to New Brunswick’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jennifer Russell.
But specifically who will be included in the next phase is still being discussed. “The next level after the priority group after March, we are still working on those details. It is all predicated on supply.”
She adds, they hope to have everyone vaccinated by the end of the year, but they have no control over delays in the shipments of vaccines.
“People have asked why we haven’t put any information out, but whatever information we put out on what our plans are, it’s a work in progress. It’s under construction because the timelines will keep changing and some of the information that we receive will continue to change, so we have to be flexible and evolve with it,” Dr. Russell says.
For those in the general population, who are relatively healthy and under the age of 55, Dr. Russell says, “You can expect to be prioritized in the very last group from June onwards.”
