Federal Conservative leader Erin O’Toole wants answers from the Trudeau government about the COVID-19 vaccine program.
He says Canada was scheduled to receive almost one million vaccines between now and the middle of February.
He claims we will only be getting around eight per cent of that, “We are in the second wave of a pandemic. There is UK strains and this week we are receiving zero Pfizer vaccines. There’s no plan in place and we have to safeguard the health and wellbeing of Canadians. I’d like to see more leadership.”
O’Toole says Canadians are worried, “There needs to be a sense of urgency, there needs to be leadership on this. We will work with the government if we can to rush approvals through or budgetary provisions, but the government is months behind where our allies are.”
He questions some of the decisions the Prime Minister has made, and says the Conservatives would have done things differently, “There are vaccines being made not far from us in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Did the Prime Minister ask for the ability to have that plant used, not to just rely on the retooled plant in Belgium. There are a lot of options here.”
