Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is again reminding Canadians to cancel travel plans as he promises more travel restrictions.
He says he won’t hesitate to take tougher measures, and will be making an announcement about that in the next few days.
“We are doing whatever it takes to keep Canadians safe,” Trudeau says. “As I said before, when it comes to protecting you and your family, nothing is off the table.”
Trudeau is also reassuring Canadians that Canada’s supply of COVID-19 vaccines is secure.
He says he spoke with the CEO of Moderna Tuesday morning about recent news that the European Union is threatening to limit the export of doses.
“It was very, very clear that the Canadian contracts that have been signed, and the delivery schedule laid out, will be respected,” he says.
He also drew attention to the federal Highly Affected Sectors Credit Availability Program (HASCAP), which was first announced in November. He says businesses will be able to receive low-interest loans of up to $1-million which can be used for rent, utilities, or payroll.
Applications for HASCAP open on February 1st.
