A member of the Codiac Regional RCMP has tested positive for COVID-19 after responding to a disturbance in Moncton on Jan. 27.
Police learned while on the scene that an individual they interacted with had tested positive for the virus.
The officers proceeded with caution, limiting their contact and reducing the risk of spread. All members involved self-isolated and underwent COVID-19 testing. RCMP confirmed that one member who was on the scene has tested positive.
While it believed the exposure occurred during the incident it’s possible the virus was contracted before the call for service.
RCMP are working with Public Health to provide contact tracing information for anyone that might have been in contact with the affected members.
Anyone who may be at risk of exposure to COVID-19 related to this situation will be contacted by Public Health.
