The provincial government will be unveiling a new five-year mental health action plan next week.
Health minister Dorothy Shephard says the plan targeting mental health and addictions is being presented to government this week for ratification.
“It contains elements adding to our health care system that we don’t have right now which would include walk-in clinics,” she noted.
Shephard says the province has also been working with police and RCMP in implementing mental health professionals into practice with law enforcement.
It may be a five-year plan but Shephard says they will be constantly assessing and working on continuous improvements.
She adds if tweaks need to be made that can certainly happen throughout that period.
