RCMP are investigating a rash of catalytic converter thefts from vehicles across southern New Brunswick in recent weeks.
Police say 33 catalytic converters have been stolen in 13 separate incidents since early December.
The thefts happened Bloomfield, Codys, Four Corners, Grand Bay-Westfield, Hampton, Nauwigewauk, Sussex and Welsford.
RCMP Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh said thieves are targeting fleet vehicles, commercial vehicles parked near businesses, and vehicles parked outside homes that appear inoperable.
“Securing your vehicles in a locked building, when possible, or parking them in a well-lit area are some of the easiest ways to deter these types of thefts,” Rogers-Marsh said in a statement.
Police say a 24-year-old Saint John man and a 40-year-old Coles Island man were arrested last month in connection with two of the thefts.
Both men were released pending a future court appearance.
If you have any information or were a victim of a theft, police urge you to call them or Crime Stoppers.
