It’s time to lace up those skates for some pond hockey.
The ice surface at Lily Lake in Rockwood Park opened for skating just in time for the long weekend.
On Friday, City of Saint John officials said the ice now measures 12 inches thick in several locations making it safe for “public skating and ice maintenance”.
Eager skaters are reminded to follow the COVID-19 public health guidelines while enjoying the ice surface and to keep their dogs leashed.
City staff will keep an eye on the ice conditions and may need to close the lake to skating if conditions change.
Outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to share skating photos with the City by using #MySaintJohn
