Derrick Stanford has announced he will be leaving his role at the Saint John Airport.
The outgoing President and CEO took the role in 2016.
According to a press release issued Tuesday morning, Stanford presided over ‘years of record-breaking passenger growth,’ and ‘the attraction of new routes and carriers.’
The release states he will stick around to help smooth the transition for his replacement.
Despite the successes since Stanford took over in 2016, the airport has faced extreme challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last July, he said it ‘could take years’ for the airport to rebound from pandemic-induced revenue losses.
The release states the YSJ board will use an external recruitment firm to find its next President and CEO.
Stanford’s last day will be March 10.
