As Canada’s vaccinations continue to grow some Canadians are focused on the uncertain light at the end of the tunnel.
Most sectors of the economy have struggled through the unpredictable effects of COVID-19, leaving many decisions to be made with little margin for error.
Governments will be looked upon to help navigate away from the job losses, closures and other economic uncertainties, but the question remains how will it be done?
A recovery will heavily rely on communication and collaboration between all three levels of government, according to Carole Saab, the CEO of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Saab believes that for governments to not have conversations about growth would be considered nonsensical.
Instead, Saab hopes the current struggles will result in an exceptional solution to an unprecedented situation.
“Communities of all sizes are experiencing massive changes, we can either be behind the ball on that or harness it as a movement for innovation and transformation, and only going happen if there’s real collaboration,” she said.
Saab was a speaker at the third episode of the Strong Cities = Strong Province speakers series focused on Eastern Canadian urban case studies and best practices.
