Candidates who are offering in the upcoming municipal elections in May, now have guidelines for campaigning during a pandemic.
Public Health prepared the document in consultation with Elections New Brunswick.
Chief Electoral Officer Kim Poffenroth encourages candidates to review the guidelines to ensure they are safely conducting their campaigns.
It also offers recommendations on how candidates can collect signatures from nominators and steps that should be followed if they are opening a campaign office.
The four-page document is called COVID-19 Risk Mitigation During Municipal Election Campaigns.
“We encourage candidates to take the time to review the guidance being offered in order to ensure they are complying with the advice from Public Health on how to safely conduct their campaigns,” said chief electoral officer Kim Poffenroth.
The deadline to submit nomination papers is April 9th.
New Brunswickers will go to the polls on May 10th.
