Nova Scotia Premier Iain Rankin says he’s had preliminary discussions on re-opening the Atlantic Bubble.
Rankin confirms conversations have taken place with neighbouring premiers about the matter, which would allow people to travel more freely across inter-provincial boundaries.
He says nothing is imminent and the decision will be made in consultation with health officials in each province.
“The conversation has just started,” Rankin explained in a provincial COVID-19 briefing held on Tuesday. “We will continue to talk as premiers and medical officers of health to determine when the appropriate time might be to allow people to cross over borders.”
Rankin says Newfoundland would not be included in the initial re-opening due to a recent outbreak of the UK variant of COVID-19.
