Thursday marks a number of sombre anniversaries when it comes to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
It was exactly one year ago when New Brunswick health officials reported the province’s first presumptive case of the virus.
Since then, there have been 1,460 confirmed cases in New Brunswick and 29 COVID-related deaths as of Wednesday.
Thursday also marks the one-year anniversary of the World Health Organization declaring COVID-19 a global pandemic.
Across the country, health officials have reported more than 896,000 confirmed cases and 22,000 COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began.
There have been more than 118-million confirmed cases and 2.6-million deaths reported around the world.
