COVID-19 vaccinations are being distributed to pharmacies throughout New Brunswick and those 85 and older can now book an appointment to get one.
Moncton-based pharmacist Cynthia Ferguson says when receiving the first dose, a date will also be provided for the second dose of the vaccine.
Ferguson says simply call your local pharmacy to book or some may have their own online systems to do so.
The vaccine will rollout to pharmacies across the various health zones during a week-long period from March 17 to 23.
Ferguson says the Moncton Zone 1 region is scheduled to receive the vaccine on March 23 and her pharmacy – Atlantic Superstore Trinity Drive – is taking appointments starting March 24.
In launching its vaccine booking process recently, Nova Scotia experienced bottlenecks by having only one phone number to call or one website to register.
“One thing that is beneficial about this process with having so many different pharmacies doing it, you’re not going to have bottlenecks which have occurred in other provinces,” she notes.
Ferguson says pharmacists are always available to answer questions but at this time you must be 85 or older to book an appointment.
If someone in that age group needs help in booking, she adds a family member or caregiver could certainly do so on their behalf.
