A 71-year-old Saint John man will spend a year in jail and two years on probation following an investigation into images of child sexual abuse.
Police say Brian Marshall was sentenced in Saint John provincial court last week after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the investigation.
Marshall has also been added to the National Sex Offender Registry for 20 years and will have to follow several conditions when released from jail, which includes staying away from children.
Mounties say the investigation began in Feb. 2019 following information received from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.
Officers searched a Saint John home in Oct. 2019, where they seized electronic devices and arrested a 69-year-old man.
