Canadian Pacific Railway is entering an agreement to create the first railway line spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
The company has signed a deal to take over Kansas City Southern for USD$29-billion, or approximately 36.3-billion Canadian dollars.
CP Rail Chief Executive Officer Keith Creel calls the deal “transformative” for all three countries.
The two companies’ combined networks cover around 20,000 miles of rail.
The merger still has to be approved by the Surface Transportation Board.
