The search is on to find a new auditor general for New Brunswick and one group wants to help.
The Chartered Professional Accountants of New Brunswick want to see a transparent and rigorous selection process in the appointment of Kim Adair-MacPherson’s replacement.
CPA New Brunswick wants to assist the government in its search.
“CPA New Brunswick supports transparency and a rigorous selection process in the appointment of the Auditor General, and we are seeking the opportunity to consult on safeguards to eliminate or reduce the threats to independence,” said Mylène Lapierre, President and CEO, CPA New Brunswick. “We are offering to collaborate on the selection process, as well as other matters. If a good selection process is in place, independence will become a non-issue, because it will have been dealt with.”
It was announced earlier this month that Kim Adair-MacPherson was leaving her post to serve in the same role with the Nova Scotia government.
She starts her new post in May.
