Horizon Health CEO Karen McGrath has announced her retirement in January 2022.
McGrath outlined her intentions in a letter to the staff and patients at the health authority.
“I anticipated challenges and knew there would be surprises along the way, although I could have never predicted a pandemic! I am so proud to see that this has not – and will not – slow this organization down. You rise to each challenge we face, learning, adapting and innovating as we go. My intention is to ensure this valuable work continues even as I announce my retirement today, which will occur on January 16, 2022. ” McGrath said.
She said she’s “very committed” to moving the Emergency Department review forward and COVID-19 planning and response remains a priority.
Other priorities include engaging Horizon leaders to begin implementing some of the strategic priorities, including a new methodology to report to staff and the communities they serve on their progress.
“My commitment to Horizon will not change over the next 10 months and I ask for your engagement as we collectively work to achieve our shared organizational priorities. I will meet with Horizon’s staff and physicians virtually over the next few months and hope we will be able to meet face to face in the fall,” McGrath said.
McGrath came to her post with Horizon Health from the Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland, Ontario.
