You will want to take an umbrella and a rain jacket with you to work or school on Friday.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for much of New Brunswick, with as much as 50 millimetres possible in some areas by late Friday night.
Meteorologist Jill Maepea said the rain will start late Friday morning and intensify throughout the afternoon.
There is also a chance of an isolated thunderstorm into the afternoon and evening hours, she said.
Maepea said we will also see a bit of a wintry mix on the tail end of this system.
“We’re not anticipating a changeover to ice pellets and maybe a risk of freezing until the overnight period and then eventually probably just some light flurries toward tomorrow morning before it all wraps up,” Maepea said Friday morning.
It is a completely different weather story in northeastern New Brunswick, where up to 25 centimetres of snow could fall in some communities.
Maepea said we will get a short break before the next weather system moves into the province later in the weekend.
“We’re anticipating again kind of a more snow to the north and rain to the south type of system with similar amounts,” she said. “We’re expecting that to probably begin Sunday afternoon and wrap up around Monday morning.”
The second storm could bring stronger winds, Maepea said, along with the potential for pounding surf in places.
