An incident over the weekend is serving as a reminder from first responders to avoid driving on flooded roads.
Riverview Fire and Rescue responded to Route 112 in the Canaan Forks area on Saturday morning for a truck under water.
When firefighters arrived, a man was standing on the roof of a truck near the MacDonald Road Bridge.
The man was rescued with help from the Moncton and Havelock fire departments.
He appeared hypothermic but was otherwise not hurt.
Heavy rain fell in the region on Friday which caused localized flooding in many areas.
Riverview Fire and Rescue is urging drivers to avoid flooded areas noting how it’s difficult to gauge water depth or speed and hard to see where the road is.
In short, they say “Turn around, don’t drown”.
We rarely post photos from a call, but an event this morning in Canaan Forks is a good reminder not to drive on flooded…
