Gas and diesel prices are up in New Brunswick, thanks mainly to an increase in the province’s carbon tax.
The weekly fuel price setting by the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board coincided with Thursday’s carbon tax increase.
Regular self-serve is now selling for a maximum of $1.264 per litre, an increase of 2.7 cents.
The increase includes a 2.2-cent-per-litre increase to the carbon tax, which also took effect at midnight Wednesday night.
Diesel prices have climbed by 2.9 cents to a maximum of $1.271 per litre. That includes a carbon tax increase of nearly 2.7 cents per litre.
Most stations in the region are selling gas and diesel for a few cents less.
The new maximum price for furnace oil is $1.072 per litre, a drop of two-tenths of a cent.
Propane prices have fallen by eight-tenths of a cent to a new maximum of $1.105 per litre.
