A bird dubbed ‘Steven Seagull’ has been spotted again in uptown Saint John and has caught the attention of local residents.
Steven was seen hanging out Wednesday at the Peel Plaza Parking Garage, according to social media posts from the city.
This is not the first time that the friendly bird has been spotted staring at himself in the windows of the uptown parking garage.
Last year, the city says Steven could be seen — and heard — pecking at the glass in hopes of beating his “rival” reflection.
“Although he has been known to be friendly, we have contacted [the Department of Natural Resources] for their awareness and advice on how to protect him from injuring himself,” said the social media post.
White boards have been installed along the bottom windows to keep Steven from hurting himself, which staff say seems to have done the trick.
If you see Steven hanging around, the city encourages you to snap a picture and post it to social media with #SaintJohnStevenSeagull.
Our friend "Steven Seagull" was spotted this morning at Peel Plaza Parking Garage. Last year, Steven hung around during mating season, making his presence known by tapping on the windows with his beak in hopes of beating his "rival" reflection. (1/3) pic.twitter.com/TTIoO9BWXe
