Nova Scotia is opening a bubble with Newfoundland and Labrador – two weeks ahead of the expected reopening of the Atlantic Bubble.
Nova Scotia Premier Iain Rankin says a decision to open a bubble with that province was made based on advice from Public Health noting how Newfoundland currently has low COVID-19 case numbers.
However, this will not be a two-way street since Newfoundland residents will still have to self-isolate upon returning home.
Nova Scotia already has the same measure in place with New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
Premier Rankin says the move is part of loosening some restrictions including allowing malls, retail stores and gyms to operate at 100 percent capacity with physical distancing.
The Atlantic Bubble is currently scheduled to reopen on April 19.
