Voters in New Brunswick now know who they will be voting for in the upcoming municipal elections.
Nominations for the municipal, district education council and regional health authority elections closed at 2 p.m. Friday.
Four people are in the running for mayor in Saint John: Darrell Bastarache, Donna Reardon, Mel Vincent Jr. and Howard Yeomans. A total of 47 people are running for the 10 council seats in the city.
In Quispamsis, incumbent Gary Clark and deputy mayor Libby O’Hara have put their name forward for mayor. There are also 11 candidates for the town’s seven council seats.
Incumbent Rothesay mayor Nancy Grant is going up against Elizabeth Kramer. The race for the town’s seven council seats features 10 candidates.
In Grand Bay-Westfield, Brittany Merrifield has been acclaimed as mayor. There are nine candidates for the town’s five council seats.
Robert “Dewey” Doucet has been acclaimed as mayor in Hampton. The race for the town’s four council seats includes eight candidates.
Also elected by acclamation is incumbent Sussex mayor Marc Thorne. There are 11 people running for the town’s seven council seats.
In Sussex Corner, incumbent mayor Steven Stackhouse will go up against Wayne Wilkins. A total of 10 people are running for the five council seats in the town.
Ann-Marie Snyder has been acclaimed as mayor in Norton. The village has five people running for four council seats.
Incumbent St. Martins mayor Bette Ann Chatterton will face Steven McPhee for the town’s top job. There are also five candidates for the village’s three council seats.
In Saint Andrews, incumbent mayor Doug Naish will go up against deputy mayor Brad Henderson. The race for the town’s six council seats includes 16 candidates.
St. George has three people running for mayor: incumbent Faith Avery, John Detorakis and Sharon Tucker. A total of 12 people are running for the town’s six council seats.
Heather Chase and John Craig are running for mayor in Blacks Harbour. There are 13 people are running for the village’s five council seats.
On Campobello Island, incumbent mayor Brett Newman will go up against Harvey Matthews. Alex Carroll and Elizabeth Butler have been elected to council by acclamation. There are four candidates for the community’s remaining two council seats.
