New Brunswick’s premier is reacting to the passing of Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II.
Premier Blaine Higgs said The Duke of Edinburgh was greatly loved by all and will be deeply mourned.
“We fondly remember his many visits to our province over the years, both on his own and with Her Majesty The Queen, and the special efforts he made to meet with New Brunswickers from all walks of life who strive to make valuable contributions to their communities,” Higgs wrote in a statement.
Higgs said Prince Philip’s legacy will continue through the thousands of young people who challenged themselves each year to achieve the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
Lt.-Gov. Brenda L. Murphy also extended her condolences to Queen Elizabeth II and all members of the Royal Family on behalf of all New Brunswickers.
