A longtime reporter has entered the race to become a councillor in Saint John’s Ward 2.
Tamara Steele, an employee of Acadia Broadcasting, says she’s always been interested in municipal politics during her 30 years of working in news.
Steele has lived in the Ward 2 area, which includes the north end and Millidgeville, since 2016.
She says she’s focused on affordable housing and wants to ensure a large chunk of the population doesn’t get left out.
Steele plans to treat the four-week campaign as an opportunity to research the process.
She says things in the Port City have never felt more hopeful, and she thinks she has something to offer Saint Johners.
