A popular public art event based in Moncton since 2014 is expanding.
Festival Inspire will be held in eight locations across the province in June and July.
The tour will include one week in each location, painting walls, and activating public spaces through original Inspire programming of the arts.
Each week, the festival will travel from one location to the next, setting up the “Inspire-Mobile” this year’s roaming basecamp for creativity in the streets in the shape of a brightly coloured camper and art camp. The team aims to produce at least two murals in each location, with Canadian artists, in particular artists from the Atlantic Bubble.
“Artists have struggled so much in 2020, we want to give them a way to express themselves while giving their communities the chance to celebrate, relax, and enjoy life a little bit this summer,” said Lisa Griffin, Event Director. Griffin says the team is really excited about the new model. Moncton will always be home to the festival but that it was time to expand outward and upward.
The festival has created around 60 murals in Greater Moncton over the past seven years.
A series of podcast video and audio recordings, exhibitions, art markets will also be set up in each location, and the journey will be documented to share online with the international arts community.
The organization has opened an online call for interest at www.festivalinspire.com for all artists and creators who would like to participate in the Inspire Tour, which will take place on the following dates and locations:
- June 7: Campbelton
- June 14: Petit-Rocher
