With the lockdown ending in portions of Zone 4 as of midnight on Tuesday, the municipal election campaign can resume in the Edmundston and upper Madawaska region.
Election day in that area of northwestern New Brunswick will be on May 25th.
Advance voting will be held on Saturday, May 15th, and Monday, May 17th.
“Electors that live in the previously locked down area will be sent voter information cards very shortly advising them of the new dates and the polling stations where they are eligible to vote,” said Kim Poffenroth, municipal electoral officer. “Electors can also vote at the returning office in Edmundston, starting Monday, May 3rd.”
Most of the province will vote on Monday, May 10th, but election results won’t be revealed until the polls close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25th.
Candidates who were acclaimed when nominations closed on April 9th will be declared as elected at that time.
Poffenroth thanked candidates and voters impacted by the suspension of these elections for their patience.
